# Why can't I withdraw my promotional credit?

Promotional credits (shown in the app as **Bonus**) are for trading only and can’t be withdrawn. Profits you make with them can be withdrawn. Cash that isn’t tied up in open orders or positions can be withdrawn, subject to the [withdrawal requirements](https://docs.polymarket.us/learn/deposits/withdraw-funds/rules.md). The money you deposit is always yours.

**How your Bonus is used:** Your Cash is used first when you open a trade. If you have Bonus funds, those funds cover the losses your trades face. If you have no Cash on the account, you can use the Bonus to open trades.

**When a trade using Bonus wins**, the profit goes to your Cash balance. The Bonus you used comes back as Bonus, so you can trade with it again.

**When any of your trades lose:** Losses on any trade are taken from your Bonus first, then from your Cash.

**Example #1:** You use \$20 of your Cash to buy shares at 50¢. If that position loses and you have \$10 in Bonus left on the account, you will get back up to \$10 added to your Cash from the Bonus funds.

**Example #2:** You use a \$20 Bonus to buy shares at 50¢. If they win, the payout is \$40. \$20 profit goes to your Cash and can be withdrawn. \$20 goes back to your Bonus.

To withdraw eligible proceeds, you must:

1. Link a payment method
2. Make an initial deposit

Once the deposit fully clears, typically within **3–4 business days**, eligible funds become available to withdraw to the same linked payment method.

Your deposited Cash remains your money and may be withdrawn when it is available to withdraw, subject to normal withdrawal requirements and any funds committed to open orders or positions. For full program terms, see [User Incentive Programs](https://docs.polymarket.us/incentives/user-programs.md).
