Subjects API

The Subjects API provides access to subject information and their associated markets. Subjects represent the people, teams, or entities that a market is about, providing display metadata โ€” names, images, and colors โ€” for rendering market UIs.

When to Use Subjects vs Teams

Subjects are attached to markets in two cases:
  • Non-sports markets โ€” political candidates, nominees, public figures, and other entities featured in event-driven markets (e.g., โ€œWill candidate X win the election?โ€).
  • Non-championship sports futures โ€” such as MVP awards, season win totals, and other futures that arenโ€™t tied to a specific game (e.g., โ€œNFL MVP 2025โ€).
For standard sports game markets (moneylines, spreads, totals), team data is attached directly to the event as participants via the Sports (Legacy) Teams endpoint rather than as subjects on the market. For more details, see the Subject Data and Sports Data pages.
